The Paducah Urban Mission Plunge has begun!
Roughly 100 people poured into Broadway UMC yesterday to register for PUMP’s biggest camp yet. Campers and leaders picked up t-shirts, camp notebooks, goodie bags and bandanas and found their sleeping areas. They clustered into teams, developed team names and cheers and even participated in a team talent show.
During worship, Broadway Pastor Rev. Joe Beal spoke about finding a home in Christ, which corresponds to the 2015 camp theme: Home is Where the Heart Is. To be at “home” in Christ, he said, means knowing how much Jesus loves you and accepting His grace. Of course, this also means that Christ slowly changes a Christian.
“When He knocks on your door, He hopes you’ll invite Him in,” Rev. Joe said, adding, “And when Jesus moves in, He wants to moves some things around, dang it!”
Today, campers are heading out to various nonprofit organizations around Paducah, including Starfish Orphan Ministry, the Community Kitchen, Hope Unlimited and more. Pray for our seven teams as they serve around town, and pray they experience God in the process.
